Omaha Dance Project

Founded in 2005, Omaha Dance Project (ODP) is OAB's community performance program open to dancers throughout the community. This rigorous program aims to provide non-professionals with the chance to experience a professional-style performing experience. ODP was developed to serve as an important level in our teaching program for students and the community at large. Pre-professional dancers develop skills that can only be learned from professional performing opportunities. Additionally, we collaborate with local and regional dance choreographers to bring their works to life.

ODP 2020 featured the classical romantic ballet, La Esmeralda, based on Victor Hugo's novel The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and staged by Juliette Henning. Three original commissioned dance works, including two contemporary works choreographed by Lauren Wichert (Omaha) and Ashley Rutt (Lincoln) and a performance by Flamenco Omaha. January 24-26, 2020 at the Mary Joy and Tal Anderson Performing Arts Center.

Omaha Dance Project is Omaha's annual citywide celebration of dance. The 2019 performance featured the spirited 1888 Viennese classic ballet, The Fairy Doll, staged by Juliette Henning. Additional pieces by UNO's The Moving Company (Omaha), Kelly Hanneman (Omaha), Ashley Durst(Lincoln), and Trey Johnson (Kansas City) were presented.
