#152 Fridays Creative Movement – 4 year olds 1:00-1:45 P.M.

#254 Fridays Primary & Tap 4:30-5:30 P.M.

If you think that you are registered, but you have not received a confirmation email from Omaha Academy of Ballet, please call the office at 346-0469.

It’s time to start planning your dancing at the Academy for the 2010-11 year!

You can download a 2010-11 Registration Guide now by right-clicking this link. Click here for guidance on “Where do I belong?”

The 2010-11 class and tuition schedule is online here, and the 2010-11 term calendar is here. Please note: registrations are not considered complete until all three required forms (registration, contact information, and photo/name release) plus payment are received!

And, plan to join us Saturday, August 28, for a studio open house at the Academy from noon to 3 pm! It’s a great opportunity to visit your teachers and see your dance friends!

Mary is Gone

We’re sad to report that Mary Waugh-Taylor, a respected choreographer and the Academy’s beloved modern dance teacher, died Friday after a courageous battle with illness. Her colleague Josie Metal-Corbin sent this report:

Dancers/Friends…It is with great sadness that I write to tell you that Mary died peacefully at 5:30pm on Friday, June 25th. She was at home sitting on the floor surrounded by her family. They request that there be no calls or visits until after Tuesday. Her daughters Halley and Maya are grateful for your love and support.

2010-2011 Registrations begin in August!

Our registrations for the 2010-2011 school year will begin in August. Call 346-0469 to be placed on our mailing list, or email Omaha Academy of Ballet at academy@oabdance.org. PLEASE, do not try to register using the 2009-2010 schedules. We will refund any registration money received prior to the opening of 2010-2011 registrations.

The Omaha Dance Project proudly presents “A Winter Celebration of Dance” at the Jewish Community Center (333 S. 132nd Street, Omaha) on Saturday, December 13, 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 14 2:00 p.m.. There will be contemporary ballet, jazz and modern dance works plus selections from The Nutcracker. Tickets are $10 Child/Senior and $12 Adult. Academy dancers march in Dundee Day parade

OAB dancers perform in the Dundee Days parade

Omaha Academy of Ballet dancers took part in the Dundee Day parade on Saturday, Aug. 23. The costumed dancers moved up Underwood Avenue performing a “parade-friendly” combination set by instructor Lynne Nevin, drawing applause from the crowd.

Academy dancers perform at ‘Art in Bloom’

Academy students performed August 9 and 10 at Lauritzen Gardens‘ Art in Bloom festival.

Nineteen students participated in the program, which featured pieces from our 2008 recital choreographed by faculty members Lynne Nevin and Mary Waugh-Taylor. Co-director Sheila Nelson coordinated the production.

Thanks to all the students and families who participated!
